Here are some common questions we get from customers when comparing conventional seeding to hydroseeding.
1. What is hydroseed?
Hydroseed is a mixture of grass seed, fertilizer, fibramulch, and water. The fibramulch is the key ingredient that acts as a growth medium for the seed.
2. How is it applied?
Hydroseed is typically sprayed over the ground in a uniform layer from a large tank. We can apply 4000 sq ft of product within a short amount of time, from a single tank.
3. What is the main advantage of hydroseed?
Water/moisture retention is the biggest advantage. Hydro seed will hold up to 900 times more water than seed and soil alone. This creates a more suitable environment for the seed to germinate. It’s particularly effective on hillsides and sloping lawns where erosion can be an issue.
4. How much does it cost?
Hydroseeding is about 1/10th the cost of sod. Although it may take a bit more time (2 weeks for initial germination/growth), it will give you a better, thicker lawn in the end.
